Stockade Lake on the drive to Custer State Park
Found this little fellow along the banks of Stockade Lake
Blue Bell Entrance to Custer State Park
Believe me, we did NOT Approach!!!
Thousands of these little guys in the park
This is part of the 18 mile Wildlife Loop Road
A herd of 1,300 bison roams freely throughout the park, often stopping traffic
Bison can weigh as much as 2,000 pounds.
This was the leader of this particular herd
Wildlife Station and Visitor Center
The Visitor Center was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
The nice lady at the Visitor Center told us to take this side road where we should find a herd of bison
As you can see, we found plenty!
This big guy was far off from the herd, we were told when they get old they will go off and live alone.
